Sterling Silver Jewelry

Most people have a preference about what type of metal they prefer for their jewelry. While it may seem that Sterling silver jewellery most people like to wear gold, there are many who don’t like the look, and prefer to buy and wear sterling silver jewelry. There is just something about silver that I love, but the same could be said for those who like gold. If you like sterling silver jewelry, you have many places to buy, and you will save quite a bit of money if you look around.

The biggest problem I have with sterling silver jewelry is that many people sell jewelry labeled as sterling silver, when in reality it is not. If you aren’t an expert on metal, you may end up with a ring that will react with your skin and turn it green or even brown. True sterling silver jewelry should not do this, but you never know what you are getting sometimes. If you have a piece of sterling silver jewelry with is having a reaction with your skin, you probably have something that contains another metal, usually nickel.

Perhaps sterling silver jewelry is so popular with some people because it is less expensive than gold, or even white gold. It has a shiny appearance, and if worn right, can look downright elegant. The trick is to spend a little more money to get quality pieces, and skip the discount rack. While the less expensive sterling silver jewelry can look good, it isn’t going to last very long. Instead, look for pieces you absolutely love, and spend a little more for lasting quality.

You can buy sterling silver jewelry just about anywhere you look. If you peek into some stores, silver is most of what you see, especially in chains that cater to teens and young adults. Just about everything is make of silver, including rings, necklaces, bracelets, toe rings, earrings, and even tiaras. What you get is up to you, and when you find unusual pieces of sterling silver jewelry, you can express yourself without spending a ton of money to do it.

You can find sterling silver jewelry all over the Internet as well; just make sure you know what you are buying. Make sure the items you are considering are truly sterling silver, and if the price seems too low, ask about the quality of the piece before you buy. If you are looking for a good bargain, look on eBay. Remember, however, that you can get tricked into paying more than you want to for a piece of sterling silver jewelry. You may find something awesome for 99 cents, but that might not be the whole story. Look at the shipping costs the seller is asking for. At times, they sell the items cheap, but charge up to twenty dollars for shipping. That is how they make their money, and this is not a true bargain.
