Gold hoop earrings

Gold hoop earringsMy girlfriend has, what you might call flashy taste in clothing and appearance. It never really bothered me. On the contrary, it really kind of attracted me to her in the first place. After all, to say that she is a beautiful girl is really sort of an understatement. She is tall, leggy, skinny, with a little fat in all the right places. But lately, as our relationship has become a little bit more serious, her clothing style and manner have started to grate on me just a little bit. It is no big deal, but certain things sort of bother me. Especially her earrings.

She wears big, tacky hoop earrings. Now, she seems to think that it is a fashion statement, but if she is trying to be ironic, you can not tell it with her way of dressing. On the contrary, it just makes her look, well, just a little bit trashy.

So I thought, with our anniversary gift, I would try to give her a hint that she needed to change, just a little bit. I got her gold hoop earrings, but not the kind that she might normally wear. These were not big gold hoop earrings. She never spent enough on herself to buy gold earrings, but if she had, I would imagine that they would be huge. But these were  tasteful, and well-crafted. Each had a slightly oval-shape, with captivating lines of uneven thickness running around the length of the earring. I knew that she would like the gold hoop earrings that I got her, but I also hope that they might start to push her taste just a little bit in a different direction.

As it turned out, she loved the 14k gold hoop earrings. When she open the box that they were in, she just stared and gawked. Then she took out one gold hoop earring, and stared at it, turning it this way and that way to reflect and shine in the light. I did not even need to ask. She immediately put on the gold hoop earrings and gave me an absolutely dazzling smile. She turned her head this way and that, and I admired the way the white gold shimmered and shone in the light. Then she thanked me, and gave me a big kiss. I just hope that the gold hoop earrings push her in the direction of smaller and more tasteful kinds of jewelery.
